Warning: Truth Bomb/Tough Love Post
I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions…..anymore.
The reason I don’t make them is because I have realized that there is nothing magical about the 1st day in January.
The magic happens in the NOW….
I think a lot of time we have what’s called Destination Addiction. It’s where we think “over there” is going to be so much better than “over here”. We think about “over there” so much and fantasize about it that we put off our happiness or potential for happiness now.
I used to have a HUGE destination addiction and didn’t even know it. I thought if I just weighed THAT, or lived in THIS house, or dated THAT guy (yeah, we’re going WAY back), or lived THERE that everything would be A-OKAY. Like somehow, I would have it all together.
I spent SO much time thinking about what my life would like over there, that I didn’t bother with what I could do NOW.
I think a lot of us have been conned into thinking that life will be easier on January 1st. That working out is going to be SO much more appealing than hitting the snooze button when the calendar flips to a new year. That broccoli will magically tastes like chocolate chip cookies and it will be EASY.
It’s not easy. It’s not easy on December 1. Or January 1. Or March 1. It’s never easy because you are STILL thinking about over there!!!!
I want you to think about what you can do NOW to improve your health.
Yes, I KNOW it’s the middle of December. I KNOW that cookies and stress are screaming your name - I just made a batch of cookies myself and I could go eat every last one of them! I KNOW you’re so busy finding the perfect gifts that exercise seems like just ONE more thing to add to the list.
Can I tell you something, though?
You need to think about NOW before you think about over there. You need to take 30 minutes and get your heart pumping so that the stress can start to be relieved. It’s NOT just one more thing. It could be THE thing that turns your health around. You need to think about adding more fruits and vegetables to your plate at dinner time. You WILL feel better by starting NOW.
There are 57 people in my current holiday challenge group who have committed to taking care of their health NOW. They are checking in daily with their workouts, meal ideas, recipes, and motivation. They are not waiting until they are over there to make a change, they are doing it NOW!
I challenge YOU to start something that improves your health NOW!
Break that destination addiction TODAY and do something that is going to be the first step in making THIS time, the BEST time!
