Who knew the park would hold a teachable moment for ME?
My six year old is a dare devil and has zero fear. Except for today.
We were at the park and he wanted to climb across the monkey bars but was afraid he would fall. Rightfully so since it was a pretty big drop to the bottom.
He says,"What if I fall?"
I said,"Don't think about falling. Don't look down. Look at the end and think how you will feel when you are across on the other side!"
He said,"I will feel really proud when I make it across!"
That little pep talk at the park got me thinking. Thinking about times I've only thought my attempts at new things were going to fail. Thinking about times when my friends and family have WANTED to try something new or adventurous and they only thought of the fall.
It's time to switch gears, people! It's time to start thinking about the feeling you will have at the finish line. Not the pain of the process or the fear of the fall. Look to the end result and make a plan to get there!
Comment below about a time you let the finish line be your focus!
