Learning to try new things

I asked my students to try a new food and then report on it.  Did they like it?  Hate it?  Will they eat it again?

The catch?

I told them that I would try a new food, too!   Well, I don't exactly live in a hot spot for new and unusual foods but I did find Dragon Fruit at the store today and since I hadn't tried it before, I bought one.

First, it is a little intimidating and actually looks more like a flower than a fruit.   Other than the looks, it's VERY easy to open and serve.

Just cut it down the middle, scoop out the fruit (yes, it looks a little like specs of mold), cube, and enjoy!

The texture reminds me of kiwi.  The taste is sort of like kiwi, too, but a little less sweet and tart.

Has anyone tried Dragon Fruit?

If not, go ahead and try it!
